London based DJ and producer James has amassed over 2 million plays online with his mixes, remixes and original tracks, as well as a number of impressive festival appearances under his belt, including Secret Garden Party, Shambala, Beat-Herder. James is a regular mainstay at Hyde Park Winter Wonderland, providing the soundtrack to hundreds of thousands of revellers year on year.
Making a name for himself playing funk, soul, disco, and afro plus everything in between, the DJ and producer’s eclectic approach has earned him critical validation from iDJ Magazine, Tatler and fellow DJs Greg Wilson, Shaka Loves You, Mr Switch, Dope Ammo and Mr Benn.
With a career spanning almost 2 decades, beginning at Student Unions and taking a bag of records to every student party going, he broke through by winning the Vestax National Student DJ of the year award in 2004. Since then he has developed his turntablism skills whilst maintaining spot on selections and always keeping the party rolling. Playing sets all over the UK, including securing residencies and gigs in some of London’s hottest night spots.
A big fan of open format, through the decades, eclectic party sets - quick fire mixing The Cure with Beyonce into Justice, Blur then back to David Bowie mixed with Disclosure - finding a thread and weaving it together without making it feel disjointed. James really understands how to read the room, work the crowd and feel the vibe.
Ever evolving to move with the times, James is now incorporating live visuals, where on stage screens are available, whilst maintaining the essence of old school DJing, using vinyl decks and turntablism trickery, earning himself the reputation as provider of “awesome sounds and fun party vibes” - British Vogue.
