Biography
As the distinctive Lower East Side voice of 6 Music and Radio 2, Huey Morgan has become known as the man who joins the dots between classic hip-hop, funk, soul, disco and rock’n’roll.
Huey rose to prominence as the frontman of legendary 90s outfit Fun Lovin’ Criminals, a funk-fried indie outfit that broke big worldwide selling over 10 million records, including their mega smash hit 'Scooby Snacks'.
Now after countless DJ gigs across the globe, he’s focused his DJ talent mostly on his NYC Block Party, the musical equivalent of the cosmic Big Bang, disco, hip hop and funk crashed together in an almighty collision in late 70s New York, with call and response choruses sat astride Get Down breaks and fast’n’furious hip hop mixing.
From Chic to Donna Summer and Kool & the Gang to James Brown via Grandmaster Flash and The Jackson 5 and more recent flavours like Jurassic 5, Cypress Hill and Michael Kiwanuka, Huey’s NYC Block Party is the sound of funk, soul, disco and hip hop jams battling it out on the dancefloor, a riotous celebration of the Good Times.
As The Sugar Hill Gang might have said: ‘Huey will make you throw your hands up in the air like you just don’t care.’
If you're looking to take your wedding party to the absolute next level, look no further than Huey!
