Wedding Jam's Friday Fire!
In this new series, Wedding Jam DJs pick their 'Friday Fire' tracks - five tunes from their Wedding Jam sets...maybe five set openers, five closers, or five mid-set bangers that set the floor alight!
First up is Paul, Wedding Jam head honcho and all-round genre-straddling crowd pleaser, with his five favourite set openers to set you up for a weekend of shenanigans and hot fun in the summertime!
"These are my favourite five - in this order and all beat mixed - start of the evening / warm-up territory.
The Meters - Just Kissed My Baby
This track by The Meters, a great old New Orleans funk band, is lyrically perfect for a wedding reception opener. A top start!
Beats International - Dub Be Good To Me
This gives us another pumping bassline to bring the heat and ready the room for a night of dancing! This one could be played anywhere in the set, to be fair, but I love dropping it early doors. It's a massive winner with the 90s kids - hi tops and hoodies!
Mary Jane Girls - All Night Long
Absolute classic set-building material, transitioning the beats into a kind of r'n'b territory. It's cross-generational too - another winner!
SWV - Right Here
BOOM! Right into the swing of things with this one. Combines solid r'n'b beats with lyrics to get everybody singing along. A nostalgic head nodder, but a real hands-in-the-air tune too.
INXS - Need You Tonight
Picking up the energy again with this old school banger. I love the way this track builds, so that by the end everyone is ready for a right floor wobbler! I usually drop Curtis Mayfield’s 'Move On Up' straight after this, and then there's no looking back!"
A great 5 - thanks Paul! Check out the playlist below!
