Dan's Friday Fire!

Friday Fire, let's goooo!

This week's picks come from the inestimable Dan. Five barnstorming staples of Dan's wedding sets, drawn from the realms of soul, Motown, disco and indie that have set countless wedding receptions alight - and will set you up just right for a banging weekend!

Tuck in!

Darlene Love & The Blossoms - Good, Good Lovin'

Oh my gosh! How much do I adore this tune?! I usually play this song early doors, as it sets the tone perfectly. Another reason why this is a special Wedding Jam tune, for me, is that I'd never heard it until one of our brides and grooms suggested it on their 'must hear' playlist! Yes!

The Elgins - Heaven Must Have Sent You

Some Northern Soul vibrations from this underrated Motown group. A wedding classic for all generations - this beautiful song makes everyone happy.

Candi Staton - Young Hearts Run Free

The first bar of this tune is simply a call to the dancefloor. Don't pay too much attention to the marital advice on the lyrics - just sing it loud and dance!

A great song!

Luther Vandross - Never Too Much

We need a bloke on this Friday Fire list. Who better than Bowie's backing singer and a gent who made it BIG with this monster of a track.

The production on this number is insane! Everyone with a soul should love this song.

The Cure - The Lovecats

Let's have a band now. I often play this song towards the very end of a night. It's so endearing! Even after the music has finished, I'll see merry party people singing the "baa ba ba ba baba" piano part while waiting for their taxi home.

Now that's what we call a Friday Fire - thanks Dan! Get stuck into our Spotify playlist below!

The best night of your life deserves the perfect soundtrack.
