Clare's Friday Fire!

For this week's Friday Fire, Wedding Jam legend Clare picks five of her most beloved set openers...five stone cold stonkers to get any wedding reception off to a flyer, and to get you primed and ready to roll for the Bank Holiday weekend! Give 'em a spin, open a beer, open a bottle, and bounce into the long weekend in style!

Hot 8 Brass Band - Sexual Healing

What can I say - this is one that always sends chills down my spine. We saw them in Liverpool when I was literally 9 months pregnant and I had the baby 2 days after - I think it might've been the vibrations! This song, though, went on forever as people kept singing along and they just kept playing it, and even when they'd finished the crowd carried on and the band stood there in awe. A wonderful moment.

Ray Charles - Hallelujah, I Love Her So

When I watched the film Ray I instantly fell in love with Ray Charles. I'd heard him before but the film nailed him onto my radar, and this song is just so happy, even though I think it might actually be about his mistress!

Prince - I Wanna Be Your Lover

Prince came onto to my radar around about the age of 12/13 and I got to see him before he passed away, which I'm so happy to be able to say. The bass line of this song always gets me - it's so upbeat and should put a spring in anyone's step.

Sugarhill Gang - Rapper's Delight

I've often considered not putting this in my wedding sets because I saw the grandma sing it in the The Wedding Singer, but it's too good to pass off. The dance-offs I've seen to this song have been absolutely immense!

Mr Jukes & Charles Bradley - Grant Green

Little unknown one here but I was introduced to this song by a client about 4 years ago and fell in love with it - and it's perfect for weddings.

Enjoy!

The best night of your life deserves the perfect soundtrack.
