Ten Brand New Tunes for 2020

We know it’s not always easy keeping up with the latest tunes - especially as serious ‘adulting’ kicks in. Work, bills, kids - planning a wedding! - it all gets in the way. So with that in mind, and in case you need a few pointers towards some of the latest and greatest tracks with which to grace your wedding party, here are a few of our favourite new releases from 2020 so far.

Disclosure - Ecstasy

Ooof! Sampling the incredible lost tune ‘Fantasy’ by Aquarian Dream, Disclosure’s euphoric comeback single is just an absolute banger, plain and simple. The throbbing, pulsating beat is liable to set your wedding dancefloor on literal flames. What a return from the Lawrence brothers.

Gorillaz feat Fatoumata Diawara - Désolé

As part of the ongoing and intriguing ‘Song Machine’ series, ‘Désolé, featuring Malian singer-songwriter Fatoumata Diawara, is a gorgeous multi-language jam, and one of the best tracks Gorillaz have dropped for a while. We can see this being a staple of the summer.

Rolling Blackouts Coastal Fever - Cars in Space

The Aussie indie rockers make their return after their critically-acclaimed 2018 LP ‘Hope Downs’, and it does not disappoint, as the guitars positively rattle along for 5 sun-soaked minutes that really fly by. One of the songs of the year so far.

Children of Zeus - Get What’s Yours

It remains a total mystery to us how these soulful lads from Manchester aren’t huge. Blending neo-soul, r’n’b and hip-hop, they continually churn out sublime cuts and ‘Gets What’s Yours’ is no exception. With hazy, blissed-out vibes and a bass groove as fat as they come, this really should be another summer staple for 2020.

Lady Gaga - Stupid Love

And there it is - Gaga is BACK! Back to her unapologetically pop best! In these anxiety-ridden times, what a joy it is to hear Lady Gaga return with what more or less amounts to an actual antidote to the coronavirus. Go Gaga, go!

Dornik (feat Gavin Turek) - Do You Wanna?

In 2015 Dornik dropped his self-titled debut album and has barely been seen since. He's probably spent 5 years working out why on earth his debut album didn't sell millions. It certainly baffled us. Comeback single 'Do You Wanna?' is a slice of 80s r&b reminiscent of Quincy Jones-era Michael Jackson. Yeah, it's that good.

Dirty Projectors - Overlord

Mad genius Dave Longstreth's project Dirty Projectors return with a single and vocal so beautiful it's like having honey gently poured into your ears. Band member Maia Freedman takes lead vocals for the first time and it's a startlingly Joni Mitchell / Laurel Canyon type affair, reinvented for the 2020s. Magic.

Tyler, the Creator - Best Interest

Tyler's evolution from hard and angry rapper to melodic, soulful and at times psychedelic r'n'b dude was confirmed with 2017's lush Flower Boy, and completed with the Grammy-winning 2019 stunner IGOR. He completed it mate. 'Best Interest' was a cut from the IGOR sessions but didn't make the final edit due to time constraints. Which is a shame, because it is sublime.

Tame Impala - Breathe Deeper

A bit like Tyler, Kevin Parker has been on a pretty mad journey that has seen him steadily transform from guitar-wielding psych guy, to a synth-obsessed super-producer churning out pop bangers left, right and centre. Breathe Deeper is taken from Tame Impala's new album 'The Slow Rush' and, as always, it's a total bop. Crisp and clean as hell, kinda sassy, and one of the best outros you'll hear for a while.

Mac Miller - Good News

Ah, Mac. What a tragic loss. This slow jam is taken from his posthumous release Circles, which in our view was an absolute triumph. Tricky thing to get right, those records, but Mac and his people smashed it. Mac Miller was in a dark place, so this one won't be tearing up any dancefloors, but it's a great vibe nonetheless.

The best night of your life deserves the perfect soundtrack.
